Today, I have a special visitor in my backyard – The Bay Checkerspot Butterfly, a gorgeous creature currently on the list of U.S. Federally threatened species.

Although a native to the San Francisco Bay, this is the very first time I see them in my garden. Does she come to remind me it is the National Butterfly Awareness day?
Or, does her visit signal something I’ve been praying for – Bay Checkerspot Butterfly is making a comeback?
